Edel Kunkel founded Mountainside Montessori School in 2003 to give her daughters a Montessori education. Since then, the school has grown from four students to 40. We offer programs to meet the needs of children in the first plane of development, from birth to age 6. The mission of Mountainside Montessori School is to provide a place for children to learn, grow, and enjoy.

Our teachers are AMI (Association Montessori Internationale) certified or working on their certification. We hold ourselves to the highest standards of Montessori education as provided by AMI.

Throughout its growth, Mountainside has maintained the same sense of community that its first three families enjoyed. Our Mountainside community includes parents who come into the classrooms to read stories, share their knowledge or talents, or help with special projects. Mountainside field trips include the entire family. Special events like our Back-to-School Party, Holiday Concert, Parent-Child Night, the Science Fair, and the End-of-School Picnic help cement friendships between families.
